5 Ways to Rejuvenate

Monday, February 2, 2015
Some days, you just need to relax. Stress has built-up, you feel incapable of getting everything done, or you did get everything done, but now you are completely burnt-out. It happens. The question is, how can we rejuvenate? How can we go from zombie-fied to super-perky cheerleader? Well, I don't know that we all want to be cheerleaders, but here's a few tips to at least bring our "chipper level" up a bit ;)

Take a bubble bath- Seriously....I rarely think to do this, but it is so enjoyable. Get a hot bath going, add in Epsom salts if your body aches from your strenuous week, and soak. Let the water wash over you and warm you from head to toe. Add in lavender or peppermint soap, or essential oils and any tension remaining should dissolve pretty quickly.

Light a Candle-Speaking of smells. candles are a great way to relax. Most people love lavender or vanilla scents. I personally prefer apple cider/cinnamon. It doesn't really matter what scent it is as long as you enjoy it. Relaxation is the goal. :)

Drink Tea- I've already discussed the health benefits of drinking tea, but another great thing about tea is that it just creates a sweet, calming atmosphere. Sip it slowly and mindfully. Enjoy the taste and pay attention to the flavors on you pallet. I personally just drink whatever tea I'm in the mood for, but there are teas specifically for calming the mind and body.

Create- Everyone has something they enjoy doing. Whether it be cooking, crafting, drawing or painting, writing, or singing, we all have a hobby that relaxes us. I personally relax by reading or singing. It makes me feel alive and calm at the same time. It lifts me spirits and boosts my self-esteem. Whatever it is that makes you feel the same way, do it.

And if all else fails.....

Stay in Bed- Sometimes, all we can do is lay in bed. If you are so exhausted that none of the advice above helps, then just keep your butt in bed. There is no shame in admitting that all hope of functionality for the day is futile. If this is you, burrow under the covers and snooze. The world will have to wait until tomorrow ;)

    1. Strangely enough, I've never actually tried peppermint tea, I've just heard really good things about it. I need to try it, don't I? ;)

  5. Sometimes a rest day is the best day. A day in bed with Netflix usually cures my fatigue.

  6. I love tea! I've been making more of an effort to drink it lately and I find it to be such a calming and soothing part of my day.

I especially love your last point - stay in bed! Sometimes it's just better to take it easy and recuperate rather than push yourself and burn out more.

    1. Kathryn,
I've been trying to drink more tea lately too. If I am craving coffee in the afternoon, I try to opt for tea instead. That way, I'm getting less caffeine and more nutrients :)
And thank you! I definitely feel that sometimes we just need our bed. Some people keep going and going until they are about to explode, when what they really should do is rest.I try to remember that when I get overly stressed.
