The "I Wants"

Monday, August 11, 2014
Sometimes its easy to sit around and think about what we want until it consumes us. I want to be using my degree (even though I love my job). I want to make lots of money. I want to see my family more often. I want to not be tired all the time. I want, I want, I want.... but when we act like this and think like this, we are ignoring God's ways, God's timing, God's will, because He obviously has a plan and there is a reason we are where we are in this moment. Whether it is to learn something, help someone else, or both, we are in our respective places in life for a reason.
We aren't meant to stay there forever necessarily, but we must be patient, joyful, and thankful while we are.

Seek justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Offer your body as a living sacrifice. (Romans 12:1)

Seek peace and pursue it. (Psalm 34:14)

Delight yourself in the Lord. (Psalm 37:4)

Deny yourself and take up you cross and follow Him. (Matthew 16:24)

Love God, love your neighbors, love your enemies. (Matthew 5:44)

And recognize the beauty around you: the people, the situations, the landscape that blesses you each day.
