About

Hey there, friend! Welcome to The Peculiar Treasure!

With all the bajillion websites you could have clicked on, I'm so glad you chose mine!

But if you are new here, I'm sure you'd like to know more before you devote all your valuable time- am I right?

Let's start with what it's all about:

The Peculiar Treasure is a Faith & Lifestyle Blog that is dedicated to encouraging women to seek the Lord, love others well, and to live a full, purposeful life rooted in Christ. This is a space for honesty, encouragement, and truth.

The Beginning

The Peculiar Treasure first came to life in 2013 as a hobby in my college days. I wrote just a few posts here and there, with no real aspirations for this space of the internet.

But a year and a half later, I realized something: blogging was actually a profession! And not only that- I loved it!

So in mid 2014, I started getting serious about my blog.

The Name

The Peculiar Treasure's name comes from Exodus 19:5. The King James Version says it this way:
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine...
This idea didn't mean a whole lot to me until I read The Christy Miller Series in high school. After reading the series, I fell in love with that idea- I am God's treasure. I am meant to be set apart from those who don't know Him. I am rare. I am His.
Not to mention the fact that I am an odd bird- quite quirky- which also fits the whole "peculiar" theme.

Who I Am

So who am I? I'm glad you asked!

My name is Kristin. I am a 30-something follower of Jesus, wife to Taylor (the aspiring theology professor), and mama to three, fluffy dog-daughters.

We live in Columbus, GA where my husband works as a high school Bible and history teacher and I work from home as a virtual assistant.

I was a Creative Writing major in college. For years I thought I'd use my degree writing for a Christian magazine, but once I discovered my passion for blogging, that all changed. Now my dream is this- to be a full-time blogger, working from home, and using this corner of the internet to encourage women to live a full life in Christ.
