Mug-spiration Monday: Snowpacolypse 2016

Monday, January 25, 2016

The Southern United States is not known for it's snowstorms. But this weekend, Mr. Jonas gave us some snow. We only got between 2-3 inches at our house, but our family in the mountains got a lot more. Sure, it's nothing like the 26 inches that Pennsylvania has right now, but we really enjoyed our snowpacolypse (as my husband excitedly called it all weekend).

Taylor and I were both off of work on Friday because of weather. We stayed in, lazed around, looked out the window over and over again, and took a snow walk. Saturday was similar. It was a great, lazy, and cozy weekend. The only thing missing was a working fireplace!

I know I am blessed. I feel awful knowing that while Taylor and I were having a fun-filled snowpacolypse, there were people out in the snow (even within a 5 mile radius of us) who have no home. While we were giddy over the beauty, they were shivering under a tree.

It's not wrong that we had fun. But we need to be very aware of how blessed we are. And often, I'm not. I complain about barely having money for bills, but we always have enough. I complain about the little things that bug me, but I have such a full life. If I'm honest, I complain a lot. That needs to change.

I know it's Monday, you guys. We need more coffee, less talk-y, and some extra sleep. But Monday is here whether we like it or not. Why not spend the day realizing how blessed we are. Try to go the entire day without complaining about anything. Because most of us are very privileged. Privileged or blessed doesn't mean we have a ton of money to throw around. It means we have what we need, we have people who we love, and people who are there for us. And for those of us who are Christians, in knowing Christ we have the biggest blessing that could ever be available. So, remind me again: why are we complaining?

Do you struggle to remember how blessed you are? Join me in today's challenge. Try not to complain out loud or in your head. Spread positivity.

  2. Oh I definitely struggle to remember how blessed I am. It's really nice to hear someone who thinks of others in a time like that and is aware. More of us should be like that. Thanks for sharing! And I agree your doggies are SO cute!

    1. Awww, thanks Hannah! They are our babies for sure. We have three, but didn't get the other in a picture that wasn't blurry. Haha.

  3. It looks like you had fun! And it's definitely okay to have fun, while remembering how blessed you are. Whenever I realize I'm complaining to myself more often I make more of an effort to think about all of the blessings in my life. I try to make that a regular habit, even when I'm not complaining a lot.

  6. We only received about 6-8 inches and that was plenty enough for me. It was nice to have a couple of snow days off work and days to just snuggle and relax indoors. Have a great day! :)
