Before I became a mom, I knew I wanted to build up a good library of Christ-centered children's books that we could read to our future children. Now that we have our son, it's important to me (and my husband) that we are reading him books that teach him about Jesus' saving power from a young age, and helps him understand who God is.
We are so thankful for the books that we have acquired (mostly through our amazing church community gifting them to us) that do just that.
If you're looking for books for your children - whether to give as a Christmas present this year, or just in general, this list is absolutely for you!

1. Does God Sleep?: A Book About God’s Power (Board Book)
This book is our absolute favorite. When we adopted our son, this was the first book he would sit through and let us read to him. We read it for multiple nights in a row and he still really enjoys it. It's message is extremely clear: God is all powerful, and it is done with a fun rhyming scheme and cute illustrations. It's one of my all-time favorite kid's books.

2. Don't Forget to Remember (Board Book)
I had heard of Ellie Holcomb before, but only as a musician. I had no idea she had children's books, but oh my goodness, I am so glad our friends told us about them.
Don't Forget to Remember as some of the most captivating illustrations I've ever seen in a children's book, and it's message floods our hearts with the truth: God is near, God loves you, and God is made us for himself. Run, don't walk, to grab this book!
You can find Don't Forget to Remember here.
3. The Biggest Story Bible Storybook (Board Book)
Written by Kevin DeYoung, this Bible storybook is a great introduction for young children to the overall story of the bible. It introduces creation, the fall, the way God interacted with his people in the Old Testament, our need for a Savior, Jesus coming into the world, his death and resurrection, and our future hope. This is an ABC's book, so it doesn't go into a ton of details, but it's a really good introduction for toddlers. There is a hardcover version that is much bigger that you may want to check out if you have older children.
You can get The Biggest Story ABC book here.
4. A Very Thankful Prayer (Board Book)
Okay, technically, this is a Fall and Thanksgiving themed book, but I think it's worth adding to your list. This book by Bonnie Rickner Jensen is a sweet poem of thanksgiving to read with your kids. The illustrations are absolutely adorable, and it teaches kids to thank God in prayer and enjoy the simple joys in life.
You can find A Very Thankful Prayer here.
5. His Grace Is Enough (Board Book)
If you're looking for a book to help teach your toddlers about the grace of God and how his grace is bigger than our sins, this is a cute little book to do just that. It teaches children to go to God with their sins, and that God sees all sins. (Written by Melissa Kruger)

6. Does God Go on Vacation (Board Book)
Another great one from Amy Gannett, this book teaches kids about God's omnipresence (that he is everywhere). With the same illustrator and rhyme scheme as Does God Sleep, this is another book that we love to read our son to teach him more about what God is like.

7. Did God Learn His ABCs? (Board Book)
Clearly, we're big Amy Gannett fans over here. This series is just so good. This is the third and final book in the series about God's character, and it doesn't disappoint. All about God's omniscience (His all-knowing nature) this book does a great job of helping kid's understand more about God's character.
Find Did God Learn His ABCs? here.
8. First Bible Basics: A Counting Primer (Board Book)
The Baby Believer series is a cool concept because instead of teaching Bible stories, it exposes children to basic theology (what the Bible teaches about God). In this counting primer, children learn about the nature of Jesus, the fruits of the spirit, and other biblical concepts. This is a great series. My one caveat is that, in our experience, it's for a little bit older toddlers than we thought. It doesn't hold our 15 month old's attention and it's not something he has much interest in yet. I think we he is around 2.5 or 3, working through this book will be great to help him learn and memorize some great truths about the Bible.
You can find First Bible Basics: A Counting Primer here.
9. Sounding Joy (Board Book)
This Christmas book by Ellie Holcomb asks the question "What does joy sound like" and it points children back to Jesus' coming as the true source of joy. This is an excellent way to point to children to Jesus at Christmastime.

10. Read It, See It, Say It, Sing It: Knowing and Loving the Bible
This book by Hunter Beless is a celebration of the perfect Word of God. Young readers will discover that when we read, see, say, and sing the Bible, God speaks to us, and our lives are changed forever. We have this book and it's really good, but it's definitely for older children. I think maybe 3+ would be ideal.
