10 Peculiar Things About Me + A Free Playlist

Friday, October 13, 2017 No comments

Twenty-seven years old. How is that possible?! Sometimes, I still feel like a teenager. Okay, let's be honest...most of the time that's how I feel. It's crazy to me that I am old enough to be married, renting a home, and completely in charge of my day-to-day. And I have all ideas that I will still feel the same way when I am old, grey, and wrinkled.

I think feeling like a kid is just part of life. Or maybe it's just part of my nature. I don't really know for sure. But what I do know is that I want to be young at heart in the moments that it's helpful, but have the maturity and wisdom to stifle that when adulting is necessary.

Thankfully, as a general rule, my life has been fairly simple. I have had luxuries that not everyone get's to experience (i.e. a family that loves me really well, the ability to have hobbies, fuzzy pets to love on, etc). And I am grateful for those things.

My 27 years on this earth have been blessed, provided for, and enriched by God, his mercies, and the gifts he has given me. I don't derserve it, but I am thankful for what I have.

So here's to 27 years! Life isn't perfect, it isn't easy, and it can get messy, but I love the life I live and am thankful for what it is and what it is becoming.

In honor of my birthday weekend, and in honor of the quirkiness that I like to infuse into the world around me, I decided to share some peculiar things about me 😉

10 Peculiar Things About Me

  1. I talk in my sleep. Taylor says that earlier this week I was having a discussion with myself about where to put a desk that needed moving 😂
  2. Other than our thumbs, my Nana and I have almost identical hands.
  3. I get freaked out by my own veins. If I look at them for too long, I get really nervous.
  4. I went through a short phase in middle school when my snack of choice was Cheetos and orange juice.
  5. If you readjust the rear view mirror in my car, you die. It's that simple. 😡
  6. I hate the seams in clothes. They are often the bane of my existence and you can find me tugging on my clothes constantly. It's a problem...🙈
  7. I hate when people spell "Mama" as "Momma". Maybe it's where I grew up? I have no idea. But I cringe every time I see it. (Don't worry though- one of my best friends spells it that way and I still love her 😝)
  8. I start listening to Christmas music in September (sometimes August), and I'm not embarrassed about that at all 😉
  9. I HATE dramatic T.V. shows. Pretty Little Liars (actually almost any ABC Family original), Gossip Girls, The Bachelor- all of them make me nuts.
  10. When I watch a crime show and get freaked out, I turn on Phineas and Ferb to make myself feel better.

September Goals + A Fall Playlist

If you're here for the Fall Playlist, it's at the bottom of the post, so just scroll down 😉

______

Hey friends! When September hits, I start pretending it's Fall...despite the 90 degree weather where we live. I'm looking forward to decorating for Fall, cooking Fall recipes, and doing fun Fall community things - like having a pumpkin party

Those fun things are soon-approaching and I can't wait. But for now, let's talk about goals (both the ones I had for August and now the ones I have for September.

Goals For August

Grow my Blog Stats

PASS! Other than pageviews and Facebook likes, I met and exceeded my goals. Woot woot!

Secure One Virtual Assistant Client

YES! PASS!
I am now working part-time from home as a virtual assistant, and starting in October, I will fill the rest of my hours with a part-time nanny job. I will be caring for an infant.

Contact One Brand For a Collab

FAIL
I didn't even try you guys...

Continue My Workouts with Mr. T

PASS-Ish.
Mr. T and I got some good workouts in during our Summer together. However, the heat deterred us more than I wish it had.

Finish Reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Ummm, I'm writing this post a few days before August is finished, so technically I have a couple of days left... but no, I have not finished. However, I am making headway and this weekend I am house sitting and will have plenty of time to read 😉

September Goals + a Free Fall Playlist

Goals for September

Stay Active

Now that I am working as a VA, one thing I'm a little nervous about is staying active. Mr. T kept me active, but now that he is in school, I won't have that extra push anymore. I really want to walk at least 3 times per week, and I would love to reach between 2-3 miles per week. That's really not much at all, so I feel like I have no excuse.

Adult

Taylor and I have been trying so hard to stay on top of everything. We aren't always the best at adulting when it comes to keeping our house spic-and-span and purging the things we don't need. For the past week or so, we've been trying to be better at adulting in every area: cleaning, healthy eating, organizing, money-saving, and spiritual health. It's a work in progress but we are in it to win it! 😉

Visit Baby E Twice

I knew I would miss baby E after being her nanny for nearly two years, but I had no idea how much I would miss her. That little girl completely stole my heart and I miss her every day. My goal this month is to visit her twice. I know it's hard to coordinate schedule's between two families, but I think that should be doable.

Read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I'm finishing up book four and I hope to move on to this one by early September, and maybe even finish it. I'm so slow!

Friends, I'm excited. I'm so blessed and thankful to have found both a VA job and a nanny job that will work together well! I am thankful that I will have some down-time this weekend. I am thankful that Autumn is quickly on it's way. And I am thankful for strong, pumpkin coffee, which I have already consumed many cups of through August 😉☕

I'm excited for what the coming month holds. Are you looking forward to it, or do you feel like it's going to be a tough month? Comment below.

Nothing But Fun Summer Playlist

Monday, May 15, 2017 26 comments

When Summer rolls around, I want four things: to feel the sun on my skin, to lay on and swim at the beach, to drive with the windows down, and to sing loud to fun music.

Sun is inevitable. Honestly, by the time we are halfway through Summer, I'm going to probably end up complaining. It just gets so hot here. But for now, I am happy that the sun is bringing out my freckles and hints of red in my auburn hair.

The beach is something I crave the second it gets warm enough to be in the water. You don't have to do much convincing to get me to take a trip to the small beach town I grew up in. It makes my heart so happy!

I really don't even mind the drive down to the coast most of the time, because a large portion of it is on back, country roads, or highways that have a similar feel. I roll the windows down, prop my arm on the window sill, and crank up the music.

This coming week, I am planning on going to the beach to visit my friends, so the beach, the sun, and a long drive with the windows down will be covered. But for a trip like this, good music is a must. So today, I am sharing a fun playlist that you can listen to whether you are road-trippin' it up like me, or are simply cleaning the house. Either way, it's a great, Summer pick-me-up!

A Fun, Summer Playlist for singing loud with the windows down.

I like sharing playlists with you because I want to 1.) give you something fun to dance around to, and 2.) I want to help you find your new favorite song. So this playlist is a combination of well-known favorites, and some lesser-known songs I think you'll like.

My favorites include La Bicicleta, Jackie and Wilson, and Sing. I hope you love these, and I'd love it if you'd follow the playlist on Spotify if you do.

What are your favorite songs on the playlist? Did you find something new that you love? Comment below!
